Alma 37:35

Alma 37:35
35 O, remember, my son, and learn wisdom in thy youth; yea, learn in thy youth to keep the commandments of God.

Sonnet 724 Alma 37:35

Sea captains need an anchor they can trust
In worship there's no substitute for prayer
In building, firm foundations are a must
And working from a corner stone that's square.

In navigation it's the polar star
That fixed and constant point of stellar light
Since finding heaven shows us where we are
And keeps the safe and peaceful path in sight.

And everyone needs principles and truth
To fix and bathe their way with guiding light
And even in the blossoming of youth
The wise will learn to seek for what is right.

And wisdom of the ages shows to me
That keeping the commandments is the key.
