Sonnet 736 Matthew 16:15-19 (#2) Thou art the Christ
And so the only answer is this one
This vivid, short, expression of a fact
This testimony of the Father's Son
In simple words, straight forward, and exact.
He is the Christ! The Savior of us all
And such a declaration stands alone
As truth upon which nations rise and fall
The ultimate, the crowning stepping stone.
And every man or woman ever born
Is blessed by this atoning agent's love
Invested with the chance to share His scorn
Then take a mansion with Him up above.
And everyone can know that this is true
That's everyone. That's me. That's them. That's you!
