Sonnet 738  Matthew 16:15-19  (#4) Upon this Rock I Will Build My Church

The church of God must ever have its seer
Be led in mercy by a prophet's hand
A revelator who can feel and hear
And pass in love to others God's command.

And vital as it is to have this head
A prophet seer and revelating rock
If followers can ever  be misled
That still could be a fatal stumbling block.

So each and every member needs this gift
And gets it by the laying on of hands
To have the Holy Ghost to teach and lift
And guide him through the worst of life's demands.

And standing ever at the door, the Rock
Invites us all to open to His knock.
