Acts 3:19-20

Acts 3:19-21
 19 ¶Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
 20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
 21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

Sonnet 748 Acts 3:19-20

How many converts in the crowd, we ask
And just a few will “show of hand” reply
While those baptized at eight or so will bask
In the delusion such does not apply.

And some, in fact, neglect the effort to
Become converted, turned, and penitent
And then as their unblotted sins accrue
They lose the way and will to then repent.

Conversion isn't culture or good taste
It isn't learning jargon or routines
It's being born anew, and laying waste
To natural man and all his natural means.

Born in the Church, I hasten to maintain
Is not the same as being “born again”.
