5 ¶Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:
6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
Sonnet 714 Malachi 4:5-6
I did some temple work just yesterday
For people born four thousand years ago
And in my heart a moment of dismay
For why this work can be so very slow.
And later on I watched a fresh recruit
Her eyes filled up with kind and happy tears
Kneel silently and gather in the fruit
Of hearts now joined from independent spheres.
And then I thought of couples who that day
As proxies for the dead renewed their vows
There eyes and hearts and hands a grand display
Of blessings only such a place allows.
The temple is that turning point for me
Where my heart turns to where it ought to be.
