2 Nephi 2:25

2 Nephi 2:25 Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might
have joy.

Sonnet 532 2 Nephi 2:25

When Adam fell the devil danced with joy
His mission, so he thought, was on its way
And more than just to bother and annoy
He guessed he’d put all heaven in delay.

Yes he supposed he’d pile his misery
Unfettered upon Adam’s hapless sons
And watch them lose their hard won liberty
Like all his first estate devoted ones.

He should have understood, as others did,
That falling opened up the way for man
To come to earth and make a precious bid
To put in practice heaven’s happy plan.

So his was not a joy to last at all
Twas rather ours to be from Adam’s fall.
