2 Nephi 9:28-29

2 Nephi 9:28-29
28 O that cunning plan of the evil one! O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish.
29 But to be learned is good if they hearken unto the counsels
of God.

Sonnet 568 2 Nephi 9:28-29

We hear of those who know of just enough
To to themselves and others danger bring
Or put another way, we sometimes bluff
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

But if a little can be bad, it seems
A lot of knowledge may be even worse
As such a learned person in their dreams
Is prone to bring upon themselves a curse.

They tend, in vanity to thus confuse
How wisdom differs from the learning curve
And end up caught up in the age old ruse
That they are smarter than the God they serve.

Thus giving counsel to the God of light
Is certain proof that someone’s not too bright.
