2 Thessalonians 2:1-3

2 Thessalonians 2:1-3
1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Sonnet 759 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3

The prophet Paul saw better far ahead
Than most of men today see looking back
He understood the weaving of the thread
That signals heaven's angle of attack.

There is a detailed plan of all these days
The seasons and the centuries defined
The dispensations, ages and delays
All organized, predicted and aligned.

And so of course the time we call our own
This final restoration of all things
These latter-days were wisely, kindly shown
In prophesies declared on angel's wings.

And so we see foretold, revealed and planned
The day of Christ's return is close at hand.
